The Saint Anthony Church in Tiradentes has one of the rare organs brought from Portugal in the 18th century that keeps its original Baroque characteristics.
Due to its poor state of repair, the organ remained inactive for twenty years. For it to be heard again, SANTA ROSA BUREAU CULTURAL designed a detailed technical project of patronage, worked on the fundraising, and coordinated the whole process that enabled its entire restoration.
Establishing a new mark in restoration projects management, the instrument parts were transported to Barcelona, where the workshop of Gerhard Grenzing, the world’s greatest specialist in Iberian organs, is located. There, all the mechanical pieces and more than six hundred pipes were recovered according to two-hundred-year-old techniques.
After the organ was returned to the city, education and heritage valorization were promoted through actions such as didactical concerts and the production of a DVD on the restoration process.
