From 2002 on, Belo Horizonte buses had posters glued on their internal rear windows, showing the work of poets and visual artists. That was the result of the Bus Art project, a Genial Projetos de Arte’s initiative, supported by BHTrans, which added aesthetical value to a so far unexplored public space, bringing art to the everyday life of 1.5 million people from different regions of the city.
Because of its pioneering characteristics, the project received the Prêmio Gentileza Urbana (Urban Kindness Award) conferred by the Architects of Brazil Institute – IAB/MG. From 2002 to 2006, SANTA ROSA BUREAU CULTURAL provided technical project consulting and raised funds for its execution.
